It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I miss Cuba.
Especially this week, after the first big snowfall.
Every year I'm reminded just how much I despise winter...
14 or so weeks until spring
Minus one week in Mexico in February

Welcome to the next 6 months in Montreal! Have I mentioned I'm just not ready for it yet?

OTH.

My favorite part about One Tree Hill has always been the music on the show. I've been watching the show for 7 years now, and for the longest time I absolutely adored Peyton because of the character she played & her amazing taste in music.... and I just wanted to point out that I'm really happy that even though she isn't on the show anymore they still put some really good bands on there to discover.

On last night's episode they had this guy play the piano and I completely fell in love with the song.

Now I'm downloading the soundtracks to all the six seasons & remembering all the good music I've forgotten about over the years.

Not such a bad way to start my day.

December, already?!

Time is flying by. It feels like it was just the summer, like the whole May experience was just beginning; my first, second, third times in Toronto were about to happen... Where has time gone!? Now we're only 23 days away from Christmas '09 and, even scarier, January 2010... a whole DECADE is about to finish in the millenium. Life is going too fast.

It honestly feels like I was just starting out high school and people were telling me to enjoy every moment because the older you get, the faster time goes. It's funny because I laughed it off and just kept doing whatever I was doing. But these last few years... I'd re-live them in a HEARTBEAT. The people I've met, the memories we've mad & all the experiences I've gone through... Have been amazing.

Right now I'm incredibly excited for the weekend right before Christmas. December 19th is the Mackenzie First show at Underworld with four of my best friends, party at Fouf's Christmas party just the five of us at Jenn's house that night & probably a whole lot more. It's going to be amazing.

Then hopefully on December 21st I'll be interviewing The Used, one of my all time favorite teen bands for CONFRONT. That would be insane for me. Earlier this week Jenia and I went over to our editor's house to learn more about how to post on the website so that we could take more responsibility, which is really awesome. I'm pretty sure the two of us don't mind at all.

Also, my article on Mackenzie First is currently the cover of the magazine for the month of December. Check it out HERE

And last thing to mention... I'll be in Mexico in less than TWO months. I got my bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding last night. It's not nearly as bad as I imagined, which definitely makes me feel better about the whole thing. Now I just need to come up with all the money. We'll see how that goes, along with the holidays right around the corner!

11:11... Make a Wish

and we all wished we could just go back in time 24 hours...

These last couple days have been so amazing, I can't believe it's already all over. I literally haven't been home in 2 and a half days & I'm beyond exhausted... but I'd re-do the whole Ottawa experience in a heart beat.

It all started on Tuesday, when I was done work I headed over to Jenia's house. We had our first Astral Media event downtown which was a "test" to see if we were good for the position. Basically we spent an hour outside the Bell Center screaming HABS chants and CJAD chants that we made up on the spot, hoping to get as much attention as possible. People started recording us and taking pictures with us... It was really cool. Claudia, our boss, told us she completely loved our energy and would love to have us keep going with the team... so it's official! We're both Astral Media promotional interns!

After a small tour of the CHOM/CJAD/Virgin studios, Jenia & I raced to Dave's house to catch the end of the game and play some Cranium before heading back to Jenia's place to sleep. We WERE going to try and get a really nice good night's rest for our road trip the next day... but we ended up staying awake until past 2am to watch the ' Dear Jack' documentary.

It was basically a one hour long video on Andrew McMahon's struggle with Leukemia which he documented very thoroughly. It was SO amazing & inspiring to watch. There were interviews with his family members, his sister Katie who saved his life, his wife (which happens to be an epic love story that made Jenia & I pause the movie to sob for a minute). I can't wait for my copy to eventually show up... If it ever finds its way from Afghanistan to here. Who knows.

We finally got to bed and slept in the next morning before getting ready for Ottawa. We headed out with Laura and Jenn around 3:30 and within the first 15 minutes of driving we knew this road trip was going to be amazing. We literally BLARED music the entire way and sang like crazy to every song on the OTTAWA playlist.

We finally got to Athena's house around 5:30 & headed to the venue from there. The six of us somehow managed to keep each other entertained at Subway until about 8pm when we finally headed to Mavericks for the show.

I didn't pay much attention to the two opening bands but as soon as The Febs came on I remembered just how much I adore their music. They're so incredibly talented and although I love these small & intimate shows, I can't wait for more people to see just how amazing they are. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else in the entire world when they played 'In Your Hands' and the 6 of us linked arms and just swayed front row. It was amazing... no better words for it.

After the show we got to spend a very long time (but not long enough) catching up with the guys. It really sucks that we had to wait 6 months to see them again because they live in B.C... I can't wait for them to go back on tour.

We didn't get back to Athena's before 4:30am... needless to say it was another almost sleepless night. But definitely worth it.

"so here is to my broken heart, here is to my love, to the good times and the bad times and all of the above."

Cheers.

Spinning.<3

I really, really miss him. Seeing Jack's Mannequin perform 3 times last year in the span of 3 months & now going over a year without them coming to Montreal is incredibly hard. I don't think there is a musician out there that will ever top this guy.

& they'll say all the sun in the world couldn't melt that ice

I'm having such a flashback to Canada day 2008. I think I'm currently going through my first really serious Jimmy Eat World phase since the concert that night & I MISS them. God, that was such an amazing show. In my top 5 at least. They need to come back to Montreal SOON.

New Opportunities

After getting my job at CONFRONT magazine, I couldn't quite imagine getting any other opportunities quite like it... at least not for a few years or without having more experience & school... but last night proved me wrong.
On a bit of a whim, I e-mailed Astral Media a couple months ago letting them know that I was interested in working on their promotional street team and to let me know if anything opened up. I kind of forgot about it until 2 weeks ago when I got an e-mail back offering me an interview time.
I ended up going downtown to the radio studios last night with Jenia who also got an interview on the same night as me. I think we were lucky that we picked such a random evening to go out because our "group" interview only turned out to be the two of us & two other people. We all got individual 10 minute interviews... and Jenia & I left the building pretty much with the guarantee of a position on the promotions team, starting next week!
I'm honestly so excited, I'm not even sure if it's sunken in yet. It's basically an internship with Astral Media, the biggest radio/media company in the country... I can't believe it. The experience I'll get is going to be amazing.

Besides my third job (and my 2nd non-paying one), there isn't a whole lot else to tell right now. I'm keeping busy at work as much as possible while I'm still getting the hours. Life without shows is so completely opposite to what I've been used to for the last year or so that I hardly know what to do with myself when I'm not getting ready to road trip. I seriously can't wait for our Ottawa trip in 6 days. It's been a month since my last show but it honestly feels like much MUCH longer.

I'm also really looking forward to this weekend. I've got a pretty jam-packed Friday/Saturday/Sunday & somewhere between now and then I have to finish writing my article, clean my room and get a few other errands done.

The last thing I wanted to share today was this video:

Every time I think I'm okay without this part of my life consuming my days... a video blog pops up and reminds me just how much I miss the month of October. It was crazy, it was exhausting... but it was all about everything I love the most. God, I can't wait for Ottawa in 6 days. Have I said that yet?!

3x

Sometimes it's nice to just sit in a car with two of your best friends singing along to music & laughing hysterically about anything and everything.
And apparently, that's one of the things that the three of us do best together. Although my weekend was pretty uneventful overall, I did finally get to spend some time with two of my favorite people... we reminisced (as usual), discussed... stuff, laughed, and got REALLY excited for our next roadtrip in 9 days. And I couldn't be more excited. <3
